After four people were killed in an explosion at an illegal firecracker factory in Bihar's Siwan, two police personnel were suspended over alleged negligence. An FIR has been registered, and a special police team has been formed to investigate the case from all angles.

Jamo Bazar police station in-charge and local chowkidar Chandrika Manjhi were the police personnel suspended by Siwan SP Bharat Soni. Alampur, where the explosion occurred, comes under Jamo Bazar police station limits.

Siwan police said the blast occurred when firecrackers were allegedly being manufactured at the factory. Local residents claimed that a firecracker trader named Mohammad Amiruddin Mian was running the manufacturing unit in the house where the explosion took place.

According to the village head, seven members of a family were inside the house. Flames spread to other firecrackers stored in the house, setting off more blasts. According to witnesses, the explosions continued intermittently even two hours after the initial blast.

Siwan district magistrate Vijay Prakash Meena said they are identifying the bodies that are totally dismembered. The whole area has been cordoned off for security reasons, said police.

SP Bharat Soni said, "So far, we have confirmed four deaths. The status of the remaining three people is yet to be confirmed, as intermittent blasts are continuing at the site. The medical team will verify the casualty figures, after which we will be able to provide a confirmed count. Our forensic team has also arrived and will collect samples from the site."
