Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff sustained minor injuries after two unidentified gunmen opened fire at his car in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sunday evening. Police have launched a massive manhunt for the attackers, forming 15 teams to track them down.
The incident took place near Pushpa Park, within the jurisdiction of Juhu police station in Mumbai’s western suburbs. Police are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding areas to identify the assailants and piece together the sequence of events leading up to the shooting. Shroff’s driver and an autorickshaw driver were also injured in the incident.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited Shroff at his residence and assured the actor and his family of the administration’s full support.
Photographs from the meeting showed the Heropanti actor with dressings on his shoulder and chest and a bandage on his right arm as he interacted with Shinde. Shroff’s mother, Ayesha Shroff, was also present.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Shinde said the actor had sustained injuries to his hand from gunpowder and glass shards.
“This is a major incident... five rounds were fired, but fortunately, he was safe. His driver sustained injuries, and the incident is condemnable. I met with the actor; he has injuries on his left hand caused by gunpowder and shards of glass. Both he and his mother are quite shaken,” Shinde said.
The deputy chief minister reiterated that the state government stands firmly with the actor’s family and would take the necessary steps to ensure their safety.
“No form of threat will be tolerated. Such gang wars were quite common in the 90s, but the Mumbai Police put an end to them in 1995. These attempts to intimidate people will not be tolerated, and we will put an end to this hooliganism,” Shinde said.
Shroff is one of Bollywood’s prominent action stars and martial artists, holding a fifth-degree black belt in Taekwondo.
He made his acting debut with Heropanti in 2014 and went on to establish himself as an action star with films such as Baaghi, Baaghi 2 and War.
In 2019, Shroff co-founded Matrix Fight Night (MFN), a mixed martial arts promotion that has emerged as a prominent platform for the sport in India.
