Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff escaped unhurt after gunmen opened fire at his car in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sunday evening. However, his driver and an autorickshaw driver were injured in the incident.

A video that has gone viral on social media purportedly shows two men firing at Shroff through the windshield and side window of his BMW. Several gunshots can be heard in the footage as bystanders react to the sudden firing and scramble for safety.

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack, although police are yet to verify the authenticity of the claim.

The incident took place near Pushpa Park, within the jurisdiction of Juhu police station in Mumbai’s western suburbs. Police have formed 15 teams to track down those involved in the shooting and are working to reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the incident.

“Shroff is safe and has not sustained any injuries in the firing incident. His driver, identified as Firdaus, and an autorickshaw driver, identified only as Chauhan, were injured in the shooting and were rushed for medical treatment,” a police officer told PTI.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis spoke to Shroff over the phone and assured him of the government’s support, according to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

“We are all with you. We will track down the accused soon. Do not worry,” Fadnavis, who also holds the Home portfolio, told the actor.

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited Shroff at his residence and assured the actor and his family of the administration’s support.

“I have assured them that the state government stands with them in the face of the open threats being directed at public figures. No form of threat will be tolerated,” Shinde later told reporters.

Police are analysing CCTV footage from the surrounding areas to establish the identities and determine the number of assailants involved in the shooting.
