The three men suspected of opening fire at Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai on Sunday evening were arrested at Rajasthan’s Kota railway station after allegedly fleeing the city by train, police said.
Police have identified the suspects, two of whom are from Haryana and one from Bihar. Investigators are probing their possible links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which has reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack.
The incident took place near Pushpa Park, within the jurisdiction of Juhu police station in Mumbai’s western suburbs. Shroff escaped unhurt, while his driver and an autorickshaw driver sustained injuries.
A video circulating on social media purportedly shows two men firing at Shroff through the windshield and side window of his BMW. Several gunshots can be heard as bystanders react to the sudden firing and scramble for safety.
Investigators suspect the attack was carried out by trained shooters who had conducted a recce of the actor’s movements before striking, ANI reported.
According to sources cited in the report, the suspects knew that Shroff regularly visited the Juhu football ground on Sundays and allegedly monitored his movements to time the attack as he was leaving the venue in his car.
After the shooting, the suspects allegedly abandoned their motorcycle near Andheri West railway station and boarded a train towards Borivali. Preliminary intelligence suggested that they subsequently crossed into neighbouring Gujarat before travelling to Rajasthan.
Mumbai Police formed 15 special teams to track down the suspects, who were eventually arrested at Kota railway station.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said strict action would be taken against those responsible for the shooting and assured full support for the investigation. He had earlier spoken to Shroff over the phone, assuring the actor that the accused would be traced soon.
