India on Monday dismissed a resolution on Jammu and Kashmir adopted by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), accusing the bloc of allowing itself to be "misused" for Pakistan's "bigoted agenda".
In a strong response, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) described the OIC’s references to India as "malicious, biased and false", alleging that they had been orchestrated by Pakistan.
“We categorically reject the anti-India references in the resolutions of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers' Meeting held in Baghdad on October 17-18,” the MEA said in a statement.
"We are disappointed that the OIC has once again allowed itself to be misused by Pakistan for its bigoted agenda," it added.
The Centre said the OIC had “no locus standi whatsoever” to make comments on internal matters of India.
It reiterated that the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are integral and inalienable parts of the country, adding that politically motivated propaganda could not change this reality.
The ministry also highlighted what it described as significant economic growth in Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370. It said the region had benefited from infrastructure development, tourism and improved connectivity.
Contrasting the situation in Jammu and Kashmir with that in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, the MEA accused Islamabad of using violence and repression against civilian protesters.
According to the ministry, these actions had resulted in the deaths of scores of people, including women and children.
The MEA added that no amount of media blackout could conceal what it described as serious human rights violations in the region.
It also said the remaining issues related to Jammu and Kashmir were Pakistan’s withdrawal from areas under its "illegal and forcible occupation" and an end to its continued support for cross-border terrorism.
The MEA also rejected what it called fabricated and hostile references to India in the OIC resolutions, including allegations related to Islamophobia.
It described these references as a desperate attempt by Pakistan to divert international attention from its own record of minority persecution and sectarian violence.
Questioning the grouping's credibility and integrity, the ministry said the OIC’s repeated endorsement of what it called malicious propaganda peddled by Pakistan raised serious concerns. "We hope its members would do better and reform this organisation," the MEA added.
