Two rusted mines were found and neutralized by the bomb disposal squad in Phagwara Gali, Mendhar sector, while an anti-personnel mine was safely defused in Qasba village, Haveli tehsil.

Three landmines were detected and subsequently defused at two forward villages near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, Indian Army officials said.
It was an army patrolling party that observed two rusted mines at Phagwara Gali in the Mendhar sector and immediately summoned the bomb disposal squad. The area was cordoned off, and the team safely neutralised the landmines without causing any damage, they said.
An anti-personnel mine was also noticed by an army patrolling party at Qasba village in Haveli tehsil. It was safely defused, they were quoted as saying by the news agency PTI.
In an unrelated incident, the Indian Army's Bomb Disposal Squad safely destroyed three landmines on Tuesday. They were initially noticed in the forward village of Dharana Basoni in Mendhar border town, a PTI report said.
In July 2025, an Indian Army soldier was killed in a landmine blast along the LoC in the Poonch district. Two others were also injured in the blast, which took place during area domination patrolling in the Krishna Ghati area of Poonch.
Meanwhile, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Northern Command, Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, undertook a two-day visit to Ladakh to review the security situation and operational preparedness of the troops deployed in the region.
"Interacting with the troops, the Army Commander appreciated all ranks for their exemplary professionalism and steadfast commitment to duty in the challenging weather and terrain," the Udhampur-based Northern Command said in a post on X.
