The India Meteorological Department's (IMD) Bengaluru Meteorological Centre has forecast very heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning on Friday and Saturday, October 16 and 17, for south interior Karnataka.
Very heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely in coastal Karnataka as well as north interior Karnataka today, but the weather will improve in both regions tomorrow. However, as per the IMD, coastal Karnataka should brace for heavy rainfall at least until Monday, October 19.
According to the IMD's Bengaluru city station, 32 mm of rain was recorded in the 24 hours ending at 8:30 am on October 16. The Bengaluru Meteorological Centre's latest weather release has predicted heavy rainfall to persist in south interior Karnataka, which includes Bengaluru, at least until Thursday, October 22. Since it is a regional warning, it does not mean heavy rainfall is likely across the entire city on these dates.
There are no rain warnings for other parts of the state beyond Tuesday, October 20. The sky is expected to be generally cloudy with light rain or drizzle.

"Simultaneously, the Northeast Monsoon rainfall activity has commenced over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, South Interior Karnataka, and Kerala & Mahe today, October 15," the IMD forecast said on Thursday.
"Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal during October 15–19; Kerala & Mahe, Lakshadweep, and South Interior Karnataka during October 15–21; Coastal Karnataka during October 16–21; North Interior Karnataka during October 17–20," it added.
