Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over south Peninsular India, with very heavy falls over Kerala during the next 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a weather forecast released on Thursday afternoon. Isolated heavy rainfall is also likely to continue over northeastern states for another day, it added.
As per the IMD, interior Karnataka may get scattered rainfall today as the day progresses. In the coming days, "isolated to scattered rainfall" is likely over Haryana, Delhi, and Punjab. On October 6 and 7, isolated thunderstorms and lightning are likely over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
"Isolated to scattered rainfall is likely over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad during October 6–7; Himachal Pradesh during October 5–7; Uttarakhand on October 1 and during October 5–7," the forecast said.
The weather department has predicted rainfall in Kerala on October 1 and 2. "Isolated thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (speed reaching 40–50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) are likely over Kerala & Mahe, Lakshadweep, and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal during October 1–2, with gusty winds (speed reaching 30–40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph) likely over Kerala & Mahe on October 3," the IMD said. Kerala may get heavy rainfall in the period between Sunday, October 4 and Tuesday, October 6.
Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema should also expect rainfall until October 5. Meanwhile, western India is also likely to get isolated spells of showers throughout the first week of October. "Isolated to scattered rainfall is likely over Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra during October 1–7; Gujarat Region and Saurashtra & Kutch on October 1," the weather report read.

Parts of Arunachal Pradesh may get heavy rainfall today and tomorrow (October 1 and 2), but it will subdue as the week progresses. However, scattered rainfall is predicted across the Seven Sisters until Wednesday, October 7.
According to the IMD, conditions are favourable for the further withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from the remaining parts of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and some parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra during the next 48 hours. The same applies to most parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and the entire regions of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
