"Enhanced rainfall activity" is expected over eastern and western Uttar Pradesh and the adjoining region of Bihar till September 27, Sunday, as a low-pressure area is likely to move north-northwestwards towards central Uttar Pradesh and the neighbouring areas, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. Its interaction with a westerly trough is likely to further increase rainfall activity in these regions, the forecast released on Thursday added.
Due to adverse weather conditions, two IndiGo flights bound for Ranchi were on Thursday diverted to Lucknow's Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport. The diversions were necessitated due to adverse weather conditions prevailing in Ranchi.
As per the weather forecast, Uttarakhand should brace for showers as isolated heavy rainfall is likely over the state on Friday (September 25). On Saturday, September 26, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, is likely. Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is also likely over some parts of the hill state tomorrow, the IMD warned.
Uttarakhand should expect fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning, along with isolated very heavy rainfall on September 27 and 28 as well.
Meanwhile, isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Himachal Pradesh on Saturday (September 26). The forecast for Sunday and Monday predicts fairly widespread to widespread rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in the state, while the possibility of isolated very heavy rainfall can't be ruled out.
Widespread rainfall and thunderstorms are also likely in Jammu and Kashmir on the dates between September 28 and 30.
