Nandan Yadav and Hareram Yadav, two among the group accused of a minor’s harassment in Bihar's Jamui, were involved in the liquor smuggling and illegal sand mining business, the police found out. The accused are both residents of Pratappur in the town police station area, and their past criminal records were being checked.
Meanwhile, the harassment case also led to the arrest of a double murder accused who was on the run for two decades! It was Ganauri Yadav, father of Nandan Yadav.
On April 3, 2003, Pratappur witnessed the murder of DP Yadav and Pune Yadav, who were siblings, over a dispute related to contract work. Their mother, Sansari Devi, had filed an FIR at the Town police station, naming Ganauri Yadav as one of the accused. While others named in the case were held, Ganauri Yadav fled and was never caught, reports said. Twenty-three years after the crime, he was finally caught and remanded because his son also got entangled in the world of crime.
Ganauri Yadav faces allegations of murder, rioting, and unlawful assembly, along with a charge under the Arms Act, The Indian Express said in a report.
Following an encounter in which both Nandan Yadav and Hareram Yadav were injured, the total number of people held in connection with the September 19 incident has reached five, including three minors.
The Jamui incident took place on Saturday, September 19, and came to light on Monday when purported video clips, apparently shot by some of the accused, surfaced on social media. The clips showed a girl being harassed by a group of men in the middle of the road, while her friend, also a minor, pleaded with them to stop.
