A woman biker from Gurugram was thrown off her motorcycle after a man in a car struck her while riding on a high-speed road. Police said that the incident occurred on Gurugrams’ Golf Course Road On Monday. .
The biker, Sia, runs an Instagram page ‘rebelwheels_sia_’. She posted a video showing how she was hit and narrated what led to the incident. The video shows her vehicle getting dragged across the road for a few seconds.
"I have nothing to say, but today I felt unsafe on Gurugram roads. People like these aren't afraid of hitting people and running away," she said.
Sandeep Turan, public relations officer for Gurugram police, said that they were verifying the incident.
“Police are verifying the exact location of the crash on Golf Course Road with the help of video to the jurisdiction of the police station for necessary legal action,” he said.
According to Siam, the incident took place on Sunday while she was riding her Aprilia RS 457, a sports bike. She was with members of her biking group on Golf Course Road.
She alleged that the men in a White Sedan had been trying to chase her from the beginning of her ride.
She said that the car approached her and it occupants were behaving aggressively., She asked them to maintain some distance from her bike. However, they told her to stop her bike. Sia said that the men in the vehicle appeared to be drunk.
“He had started chasing me on the Golf Course Road. I asked him to drive while maintaining distance. He kept making hand gestures asking me to stop my bike,” she said.
She tried to move ahead of the vehicles so that they could not block her.
One of her friends rising behind her attempted to shield and prevent the car from approaching her from behind.
The car, however, kept pursuing her, and the driver allegedly tried to cut in front of her. In the process, her bike was struck, and she was thrown off. The vehicle also skidded several feet
The entire incident was captured on camera. Sia also posted their vehicle number and names.
Her friend followed the car after the collision and confronted the driver at a traffic signal.
He denied responsibility.
According to Turan, there was no alert to police control room or a written complaint from the victim after the accident.
“Police will try to approach her to take a written complaint to register a first information report (FIR) for arresting the car driver who hit her,” he added.
