A Delhi gym trainer was shot dead by two bike-borne assailants who opened fire on him in south Delhi's at Hans Chowk in Aya Nagar, Fatehpur Beri, on Monday morning.
Police said the incident took place at 10 am in Aya Nagar village. The victim, Vijay, was 28 years old.
Police said that the firing was the result of a personal rivalry. The assailants reportedly waited for the victim to arrive at the gym.
The attackers reportedly told a man to call the victim outside. When he went out, he was shot multiple times.
About 12 rounds of bullets were fired, police told ANI. Jagran reported that about 18 shell casings were found on scene.
The victim's body was sent to AIIMS Hospital. Police teams and forensics are at the scene. CCTV footage from near the gym was also collected. Officials are also searching residences and possible hideouts to locate the two accused.
The incident sparked widespread panic in the area. It is also not the first such incident. There is reportedly a gang war in the region.
The family of the victim claimed that there were four assailants on the bikes.
The victim’s sister said that the Vijay had a court date on Monday and that he was trying to secure bail. The family said that he was involved in a previous murder in the village.
A few months ago, a man named Arun was shot dead at the CDR Chowk. Police arrested several men, including Deepak and Yogesh, Vijay's older brother, following the incident.
Arun's maternal uncle, a resident of Faridabad, then shot Deepak's father with 70 bullets on November 30, 2025.
Police are investigating all aspects of the case including the motive behind the murder and past rivalries.
