Under the influence of a low-pressure area over southwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining north Vidarbha, "isolated very heavy rainfall" is expected over Gujarat on September 14, Monday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. As per the forecast, the system may cause showers today in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat as well.

As per the IMD, the Jammu & Kashmir-Ladakh region should expect fairly widespread to widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning from September 15 to 17. On September 16 and 17, Haryana, Delhi, and Punjab should also brace for the same.

In central India, Chhattisgarh may receive widespread rainfall until September 16, Wednesday, while Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh should brace for thunderstorms until September 19, Saturday. The Andaman & Nicobar Islands, West Bengal, Bihar, and Odisha should also brace for a wet week, the IMD said.

"Isolated to scattered rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely over Jharkhand during 13th–19th September; Bihar during 13th–15th September and during 18th–19th September; Odisha during 15th–19th September," the release said.

The weather department has predicted widespread rainfall over Kerala on Monday and Tuesday, while Lakshadweep should be getting showers until September 19, Saturday.

"Isolated thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (speed reaching 40–50 kmph, gusting to 60 kmph) are likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal during 13th–17th September; South Interior Karnataka during 14th–16th September; Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam and Rayalaseema during 13th–15th September, with gusty winds (speed reaching 30–40 kmph, gusting to 50 kmph) likely over Kerala & Mahe during 14th–16th September; Telangana during 13th–15th September," the forecast said.

The northeastern states have also been warned by the IMD, as isolated thunderstorms are likely over Arunachal Pradesh until September 17, Thursday, while Assam and Meghalaya are likely to experience the same until Wednesday. Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura may also get rainfall until Thursday, the report said.
