A forensic examination of the mobile phone and other devices seized from jailed former Janata Dal MP Prajwal Revanna on Augiust revealed multiple pornographic videos.
Revanna was caught using a mobile phone inside his prison cell after crime branch officials raided it on August 11. The officials also found a charger, a pen drive and a notebook from the barrack where he was lodged.
Revanna, grandson of former Prime Minister HD Dece Gowda and nephew of Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy, is serving a life sentence after being convicted of rape and circulating videos of the sexual assault on a 48-year-old woman.
He is lodged in Parappana Agraha Central Prison, Bengaluru.
The forensic analysis and the reports found the there were dozens of porn videos on the phone and a web series on the pen drive.
Authorities suspended jail officials and ordered a probe. Five people were arrested in connection with the case.
Personnel mobiles, SIM cards and electronic communication are banned inside prisons.
Investigators said Revanna paid Rs 70,000 to get the mobile smuggled into the prison; he also paid Rs 30,000 for the SIM card.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the SIM was active since March.
The 48-year-old woman worked as domestic help at the Revanna family’s farm in Hassan district's Holenarasipura. She alleged that the MP raped her multiple times since 2021,
