Amid the BJP's ongoing outreach to the young generation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday addressed the students at Shri Ram College of Commerce, which marked its centenary.
In his address, PM Modi said from policy paralysis to policy dynamism, India has come a long way. The country's 7.8 per cent GDP growth amid global uncertainty reflects its economic strength, he pointed out. “Those responsible for pushing India into 'Fragile 5' are now unable to digest India's 7.8 per cent growth. Together, 140 crore Indians will make India both Viksit and Aatmanirbhar,” he said.
India is moving forward at a new pace, said Modi, adding that what once took decades is now happening in just a few years. “If Indians can lead the world's top companies, Indian companies can lead the world too; it is all possible,” he added.
The PM also warned Pakistan against sponsoring cross-border terrorism. "Those spreading terrorism are hunted down now; if Pakistan indulges in nefarious act, Indian army enters its home and strikes."
The prime minister released a commemorative Rs 100 coin to mark the centenary celebration.
“For over 100 years, Shri Ram College of Commerce has given generations of students opportunity to learn, grow, make a difference. Students of SRCC took its glory to the global stage,” he said. “SRCC’s alumni have also been very special. If I put it in your language, the alumni here are the OGs.”
Modi also recalled his previous visit to SRCC in 2013 when he was Gujarat chief minister. “When I came to SRCC in 2013, even though I represented Opposition, I did not utilise the platform to criticise the government of the day. My 2013 speech at SRCC had become a wave, and even today, 13-14 years later, the impact of that address remains intact,” the PM said.
