The Opposition Congress has questioned the appointment of retired Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra as the first Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, asking if there was any hidden truth behind the Operation Sindoor, that might to his appointment.
Mishra commanded India’s western air operations during Operation Sindoor, the military campaign launched against Pakistan-based terror targets following the Pahalgam terror attack last year.
“The current BJP government is appointing Supreme Court judges as Governors or members of the Rajya Sabha, which raises doubts in people’s minds. Now, a retired Air Marshal has been appointed CEO of the Ram Mandir Trust. What does he have to do with this?” Congress leader Rashid Alvi asked.
“I wonder if there is some hidden truth behind Operation Sindoor that led to his appointment as CEO here,” he added.
Alvi also questioned the ongoing probe into allegations of theft of donations at the Ram temple, claiming that the identities of those responsible had not yet been disclosed.
“To this day, the identities of those who committed the robbery at the Ram Mandir have not been revealed, nor have all the culprits been arrested,” he said.
The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust appointed Mishra as its first CEO on Wednesday, while former treasurer Govind Dev Giri was named the new general secretary. The appointments are part of a major organisational overhaul following allegations of donation theft.
Mishra was chosen from a shortlist of three candidates after the trust’s selection committee scrutinised 5,585 applications. He hails from Deoria district in Uttar Pradesh and has had a distinguished career in the Indian Air Force. He has received several military decorations, including the Yudh Seva Medal.
