Police in Tamil Nadu are on the hunt for an Odisha couple after they identified a woman’s dismembered torso, which was found stuffed inside an abandoned suitcase in the Tamil Nadu Express at Agra Cantonment railway.

The suitcase was found about two weeks ago. Police said that the dismembered body was Haidul Nisha, who hailed from Paramakudi in Tamil Nadu.

Police officials released CCTV footage of the suspects identified as Manik Uddin Laskar and Bhagmati Majik from Odisha.

Their motive or the manner of murder has not been ascertained. Police traced the suitcase back to a rented house in Mosque street Guduvanchery.

They found that the house was locked. Neighbours who were questioned said that two women and a man from Odisha were slain there.

A special team formed to trace the suspects traced the mobile phone signals and found that the two had fled to Odisha.

Three police teams have been sent to the state to arrest the absconding couple.

The body was found on August 6 after the train left Chennai Central for New Delhi.

Passengers alerted railway officials after the noticed the smell emanating from the red suitcase in the general compartment.

Agra police examined more than 350 CCTV recordings from Chennai Central and Guduvanchery to track the suspects,

The footage showed the couple boarding the train at Chennai Central and boarding the train.

They later got down, travelled to Guduvanchery and left the station in an autorickshaw.
