A 21-year-old son of a Jana Sena Party Rajya Sabha MP was booked after he allegedly rammed his Aston Martin at high speed into a 26-year-old woman in Hyderabad's Madhapur area.

Lingamaneni Sanjush, 21, was handed a notice by the Madhapur Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ch Sridhar. He had not been arrested as the offence is bailable and carries a maximum punishment of less than seven years

His father, Lingamneni Ramesh, is an Andhra Pradesh Rajya Sabha member and businessman associated with Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena Party.

The victim, Bharati Mukhi, worked at a Lifestyle Clothing store in Inorbit Mall. She was hit by the car while she was crossing the road near her workplace on August 16.

According to the FIR registered at Madhapur Police station Bhartai had gone with her colleague Pooha Ashok to the area near ITC Kohenur to get food. The two were crossing the road when the car struck Bharati at around 3 pm.

She suffered from severe head injuries and heavy bleeding.

She was rushed to Apollo Hospital in Jubilee Hills, where doctors declared her dead.

Madhapur Police Station registered a case under the BNS for death by negligence. Further investigation is underway.

Police said that Sanjush was taken into custody on the day of the accident and given drunk driving and drug tests.

Blood samples were also collected and sent for tests. His Astin Maritn car was seized.

Police are also waiting for the victim’s post-mortem examination report.
