In a new development, one of the prime accused in the Jharkhand JPSC row, Abhay Tiwari, told police that the paper for the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission JSSC-CGL exam held in September 2024 was also leaked.
Tiwari was the marketing manager of TDPL.
According to Tiwari’s confession to the police, several candidates were taken to Bokarao and made to memorise about 65 questions and answers. He said that about 1.80 crore was collected from just 15 of the candidates, which each possibly giving 12 lakh each.
Tiwari also told police that the Webel company, which was responsible for printing the question paper, was involved in the leaks.
The accused told the CID investigators that he colluded with Webel owner Mithilesh Singh and his associate Rakkeh Singh and Umakant Pramanik to leak the papers.
According to Tiwari, the biometric work for the CGL exam was initially awarded to his company TDPL. However, due to the low rates, the company refused to work and was later de-empanelled.
The work was subsequently awarded to Webel, owned by Mithilesh Singh and Umakant Pramanik. Webel was tasked with conducting the exam, biometrics and printing the questions. Tiwari reportedly obtained the papers from them.
Abhay Tiwari was arrested by the CID for his involvement in the JPSC merit scam. He had passed the JSSC-CGL exam and secured a rank 48.
Tiwari reportedly passed 12 competitive exams in 13 years. His brother Akshay Tiwari and sister-in-law Sushma Kumari were also qualified for the exams.
Protesters at the assembly on Monday held posters against Tiwari, demanding that the accused persons' selections be cancelled and legal action be taken against them.
