The 94-page chargesheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has detailed the modus operandi of the three subject experts - P. V. Kulkarni, Manisha Mandhare and Manisha Havaldar - who allegedly leaked the NEET question paper leak.
The chargesheet accuses them of making a brief list of all 135 questions in the form of small chits and memorising the questions and writing them down once they reached back at their hotel from the NTA office where they were assigned for work, according to a report by The Print.
Kulkarni, Mandhare and Havaldar, subject experts in chemistry, botany and physics, were among the 13 charged.
Kulkarni was assigned by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to do rough work during translation and back-translation of the NEET-UG questions from March 31 to April 2.
He was assigned the work at the confidential section on the first floor of the NTA headquarters. The accused used this plain paper to make a brief list of all 135 questions in the form of small chits. He also managed to note down the answer options, the CBI has alleged.
“There was no practice of checking/frisking of experts during entry/exit from the confidential section at NTA. For easier questions, he could simply remember them and write them down in a book once he returned to his hotel room at the end of the day,” The Print quoted the chargesheet.
Havaldar had the responsibility of translating question set number two and back-translation of sets one, two and four of physics. According to the CBI, she used to note down the questions in brief after returning to her hotel in Delhi at the end of the day.
As for Mandhare, the botany subject expert, she memorised the questions and marked the relevant paragraphs in the NCERT textbooks after each day’s work. Her task was to translate questions from English to Marathi and back-translate zoology questions to English between March 9 and April 5.
“Due to her decades of experience with the same material, she was easily able to correlate the questions with the NCERT textbook material,” the chargesheet said.
