With the Southwest monsoon active over Maharashtra, the IMD has forecast heavy rainfall across multiple regions. An orange alert is in effect for eight districts, while 14 districts remain under a yellow alert.
Moderate to heavy rainfall is predicted across parts of Konkan, North Maharashtra, Western Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha. Authorities have urged citizens and farmers to take necessary precautions.
The IMD has issued an orange alert for Palghar, Thane and Raigad districts. Heavy rain is likely to fall at some places in these areas. While a yellow alert has been issued for Mumbai, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts.
Heavy rainfall is predicted across north Maharashtra as well. An orange alert has been issued for four districts of Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon and Nashik. Heavy rains with thundershowers are expected in these areas, and the water level of rivers, streams and small streams may increase.
An orange alert has been issued for the Satara Ghat area in western Maharashtra and a yellow alert has been issued at the Ghats. Moderate to heavy rains have also been forecast in Kolhapur district.
A yellow alert has been issued for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna and Beed districts of Marathwada.
Six districts of Vidarbha have been placed under a yellow alert. Alert has been issued for Akola, Amravati, Buldhana, Wardha, Washim and Yavatmal districts.
Meanwhile, no weather warning has been issued for Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia and Nagpur districts at present. The Meteorological Department has said that the chances of rain in these areas are relatively low.
