A woman was allegedly hacked to death by her husband's younger brother over a delay in serving food in the Jehanabad district of Bihar. The victim's head was severed and hung from a tree by the accused, reports claimed.
As per the reports, the crime took place on Friday at Imadpur village. 25-year-old Anshu Devi, wife of Dharmendra Kumar, belonged to an agrarian family and was home alone when the crime took place.
It was the paddy transplantation season and the entire family, including Devi's husband, was in the field. Kunal Kumar, brother of Dharmendra Kumar, reportedly reached home earlier than others and asked for food.
He was unhappy that there was a slight delay on Devi's part in serving him food. This led to a dispute between the two, which is believed to have escalated into a physical assault that claimed the woman's life.
Anshu Devi was attacked with an axe and her severed head was found hanging from a banyan tree on the outskirts of the village, The Times of India said in a report. Villagers ensured that the accused couldn't flee and later handed him over to the police, the daily added.
The murder weapon has been recovered and her body has been sent for a post-mortem. The argument seems to have led to the crime, but the investigation team confirmed that they will be probing all angles.
Earlier this week, a woman and her lover were arrested in Bihar's Rohtas for killing a man using an axe. The victim was allegedly murdered in his sleep by his wife and a friend to start a life together. His naked body was thrown into a canal in the hope that his identity could not be confirmed.
