Congress students wing National Students Union of India and the Youth Congress on Monday demanded resignation of Maharashtra Education Minister Dada Bhuse, holding him responsible for leaking of exam papers of CET and TET.
Both organisations have threatened to launch statewide agitation in coordination with like-minded organisations if Bhuse doesn’t resign in the next seven days.
NSUI state president Sagar Salunkhe and Mumbai Youth Congress President Zeenat Shabrin held a press conference on Monday to demand Bhide’s resignation. They said the BJP-led Mahayuti government has made education a money-minting business and thousands of rupees are being charged from lakhs of students. They also alleged that college admissions-related tender was issued for Rs 5 crore, but still four lakh students were yet to secure admission to junior college.
“On one hand, the BJP-led government is playing with the lives of students and on other hand, ministers like Mangal Prabhat Lodha were carrying out Thank You Modi ji campaign. Are they carrying out Thank You campaign because Modi government lathi-charged the students and used pellet guns against them,” said Zeenat Shabrin.
While the Congress has given a seven-day deadline for Bhuse to quit, Shiv Sena (UBT) too has demanded his resignation.
Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesman Harshal Pradhan said that his party will continue to support student agitation in Maharashtra on the issue exam paper leaks in TET. “We will continue to carry on our agitation with the support of student community,” said Pradhan.
