Prahlad Joshi, former Karnataka BJP president, was appointed as the new Education Minister after Dharmendra Pradhan handed in his resignation on Saturday, following months-long protests from students across the country.

Joshi entered the Lok Sabha in 2004 after winning from the Dharwad Constituency and has won the region consecutively.

According to his 2024 election affidavit, Joshi declared assets, and his total net worth stands at over 21.09 crore rupees.

His declared movable assets are worth 8.97 crore rupees, out of which he owns 2.72 crore.

His wife owned about 5.93 crore, and his daughter owned assets worth over 32 lakh rupees.

The assets include cash, bank deposits, fixed deposits, mutual funds, investments in shares, insurance policies, PPF, gold and silver jewellery, and others.

In addition, Joshi also has liabilities of more than Rs 8 crore.

Both Prahlad Joshi and his wife had deposits of more than 92 lakh in their bank accounts.

Apart from this, both of them have also invested more than Rs 1.62 crore in shares and mutual funds.

Their portfolio included shares of Inno Nu Chem Pvt Ltd, Miraculam Motors Private Limited, Able Design Eng. Service Pvt Ltd.

They have also invested several lakhs in SBI Mutual Fund, SBI Blue Chip Fund and Mid Cap Fund.

He also has Rs 10 lakh in his PPF account and has an LIC policy worth Rs 21 lakh.

The affidavit also states that Prahlad Joshi owned about 180 grams of Gold chain ring and about 5 kilograms of silver.

His wife, meanwhile, has about 500 grams of gold jewellery and 2 kilograms of Silver.

His daughter had about 250 grams of gold jewellery.

Despite all of the wealth worth crores, Joshi and his wife do ot own cars or any other vehicles.

Joshi’s immovable assets are valued at over Rs 12 crore.

These include his luxury homes in Hubli and Bengaluru. Agricultural land in Dharwad and non-agricultural land in Karnataka.

The election affidavit also says that the his wife owns land in Dharwad worth over Rs 86.39 lakh.

He also owns non-agricultural land in Keshavpur Hubli and Bengaluru worth over Rs 5.25 crore.

His wife does not own any houses.

Prahladn, however, owns houses and an apartment in Mayuri Estate, Hubli, and Malleswaram, Bengaluru, with a total value of Rs2.99 crore.
