The main accused behind the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) paper leak, Bijendra Gupta, has been arrested by the Maharashtra Police in Bihar. Along with him, another accused was also arrested during the operation. 

According to the police, Gupta has been on the run for several days. 

Gupta, the alleged mastermind of the TET paper leak, has been linked to multiple examination paper leak cases across the country.  

Police said that Gupta has been brought to Pune Airport and will be taken to Bhiwandi for further legal proceedings. 

In a breakthrough on July 5, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Maharashtra TET paper leak arrested three Agra-based printing press employees for allegedly stealing the confidential question papers during production.

A total of 10 arrests were made in connection with the paper leak case till now.

Suman Gupta, the wife of the main accused, was previously detained in Bihar after investigators alleged her complicity in the racket. The probe has now expanded to track the network's financial trail, with police verifying if properties owned by the couple in Patna and Delhi were funded through paper leak proceeds.

The accused have been identified as Nareshkumar Puranchand Mahore (35), Sanjaykumar Sureshchandra Chandra (44), and Babulal Narayansingh Kushwaha (45). They were brought from Delhi and produced before a Bhiwandi court on Saturday, which remanded them to police custody till July 9.

SIT officials stated that Mahore allegedly smuggled the question paper out of the printing press before passing it to former employee Sanjay Kumar Sharma and Sonu Kumar, who is currently absconding.

The leaked paper was later supplied to Bijendra Gupta, who is considered the mastermind behind the exam racket. 

According to police, Sharma served as the printing press's packaging head until two years ago, while the absconding Sonu Kumar was a former employee in the same department.

Investigators suspect the accused used their familiarity with the printing process to gain access to the confidential question papers.

Police also recovered three live cartridges from one of the arrested accused, reported the Hindustan Times.
