Jaivendra Singh, also known as Vikki, was allegedly attacked with an axe after a fight broke out in Uttar Pradesh’s Mahoba district. The incident occurred around 11 pm on Tuesday, and the 28-year-old man’s hands were chopped off, according to Mahoba police.
The encounter took place outside the Chandel petrol pump on the Kaanur-Sagar highway, where the victim had allegedly left his house to refuel his vehicle, following which there was an argument between him and a group of individuals. The dispute reportedly escalated into violence, with the accused attacking Singh with an axe. The assailants also struck him with multiple sharp weapons, causing him to collapse on the road.
The accused fled after the attack. Police and family were informed by a passerby who saw the man writhing on the road. They allegedly found the young man lying in a pool of blood. Eyewitness accounts report that the mother attempted to stop the bleeding by tying a piece of cloth around his head and wrists.
According to the police, the victim’s hands were severed at the wrists. He also suffers from various other serious injuries, including multiple deep wounds on his head and damage to one leg.
A dial-112 team arrived at the spot, and Singh was rushed to the nearest district hospital. However, the doctors referred him to a larger hospital for advanced medical care after assessing his grave condition. The young man’s condition is said to be critical.
The victim’s family has raised allegations against a local leader and his associates, claiming that the attack was premeditated. The police have registered a case based on the complaint, and CCTV footage from the petrol pump is being assessed. Officials said one of the accused has already been detained and that further investigation is ongoing to find the other accused individuals in the attack.
