A group of miscreants stormed a residential society in East Delhi’s Mayur Vihar Phase-3 and assaulted residents, including a 10-year-old boy, on Sunday evening.
Around 10 -15 people were injured in the violence, and the boy is currently undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit.
According to the residents, the incident occurred after some of the locals objected to some person or persons eve-teasing and molesting a young woman in the locality.
Residents say that after the suspect was confronted, he returned with his associates and conducted a violent rampage in the location.
The group reportedly assaulted several people they encountered, leading to chaos in the area.
The attacks occurred at around 9:25 pm. CCTV footage shows a group of men running through the area, pelting stones at residents inside the society. In another video, one man was seen attacking people with a stick.
Residents say that 10-15 people were injured in the attack. The twin-year-old sustained serious injuries and was admitted ot the ICU. Locals say that four to five people are in a serious condition.
The sister of the 10-year-old said that her brother is currently undergoing treatment. "My brother is 10 years old. He had gone along with our cousin, who is around 27-28 years old. They had gone to take some photographs. After that, my brother was attacked. The people involved hit him with stones from behind. My brother suffered serious injuries. He has developed a blood clot and is in a critical condition," she said.
She alleged that the accused were carrying stones and sticks "One of them had a large stone in his hand. He was also carrying a wooden stick. It was quite broad and even had nails in it," she said.
She also said that she only saw three attacks during the assault.

She also alleged that the one of the accused is a resident of Mayur Vihar Phase-3 and lives in the Gharoli area.
"We have photographs of him and have already handed them over," she said.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are speaking to those involved.
They are also scanning CCTV footage from the area and gathering information from eyewitnesses.
The incident has triggered panic among the residents.
Police said that further action will be taken based on findings from the investigation.
Local AAP MLA Kuldeep Kumar questioned the law and order situation in the national capital. He alleged that the violence took place despite the police outpost being located only about 500 metres from the residential society.
