Four suspected members of the Deepak Nadal gang were killed in a high-profile encounter in Haryana’s Gurugram on Thursday night.

According to the crime branch, the suspects and the police exchanged about 60 rounds of fire after the branch received information about a suspicious SUV with armed men.

The accused had opened indiscriminate fire against the police personnel in an attempt to flee, police shot four of the alleged gang members.

Three police personnel also sustained gunshot wounds in the encounter.

Who is Deepak Nandal?

Deepak Nandal was earlier known as a producer and rapper in the Haryanvi music industry.

The 39-year-old, who originally hails from Rohtak, is known for multiple Haryanvi songs and has worked with Rahul Fazilpuria and Badsha.

According to police officials, Nandal’s career took a turn after he came in contact with organised criminal gangs.

Officials say that Nandal’s first registered criminal case was in 2009, which was connected to an attempted murder in Gurugram’s Sadar Bazar.

He was later acquitted in that case. However, investigators believe he continues to build links with criminal groups over the year, the Indian Express reported.

He has since been involved in and wanted for several extortion, attempted murder and firing incidents in Haryana and Delhi.

He has allegedly used threats and violence to target businessmen. Last week, he allegedly demanded Rs 5 crore from a singer in Delhi.

An FIR was registered against him in the Delhi Police's Special Cell.

One of his most famous cases involved an alleged attack on Haryanvi singer Rahul Fazilpur.

Police say the two developed differences due to Nandal’s aggressive behaviour. Nandal reportedly planned an attack on the singer in Gurgaon in July 2025 through his associates.

Police linked the case to Sunil Sardania, a Rohtak resident facing several criminal cases. A social media post made after the incident claimed that Fazilpur borrowed Rs 5 crore from Nandal and failed to return it, which prompted the attack.

Nandal reportedly fled India in July 2024 through Dubai and is currently based in London. Investigators say that he continues to run his criminal network from the UK, the Indian Express reported.

His name was also linked to the killing of Gurugram-based property dealer Rohit Shaukeen in August 2025. Police also alleged that he planned to fire incidents at business establishments to pressure owners into paying extortion money.

In September 2025, nearly 25 to 30 rounds were fired at the office of MNR Builders in Gurgaon’s Sector 45. Police claim Nandal took responsibility later, through a social media post.

A month later, some of his associates allegedly fired around 55 to 60 rounds at the office of Unisys Info Solutions Pvt. Ltd. in Karnal.

In a statement after the encounter, police said, “The identities and criminal records of the deceased and injured suspects, along with details of the recovered weapons, will be shared following verification. Strict action will be taken against any criminal attempting to instil fear among the public.”
