In Meerut, India, a 21-year-old woman named Aksha was fatally shot in the head by her 20-year-old brother, Aarish, on Saturday morning at their home, allegedly because she refused arranged marriages due to suspicions of an affair and the family's fear of her bringing dishonor. Following the shooting, her family, including her mother Kashifa and other brothers, transported her to the hospital and falsely claimed she had fallen from a roof, an attempt to conceal the murder which was uncovered by doctors who identified the bullet wound and alerted the police. Authorities have arrested Aarish and filed an FIR against his mother and brother for murder and abetting the crime, with further investigation revealing that the family attempted to clean up the scene of the crime to cover their tracks.

A 21-year-old woman was shot in the head by her younger brother in Zakir colony of Lohiya Nagar police station area of Meerut on Saturday. Her family later assisted the brother in covering up the murder.

After Aksha was shot, her family members took her to the hospital and told the doctors that she had fallen from the roof. The doctors who found the bullet injury in her head called the cops.

Authorities have arrested 20-year-old Aarish and have registered an FIR against his mother and brother for the murder.

Police said that the family killed Afsha for refusing to marry, assuming she had an affair with a man.

The mother, Kashifa, has four sons: Aarish, Kaif, Abdul and Junaid.

Aksha was the second-oldest sibling.

During interrogation, the police discovered that the young woman had been killed after the family suspected that she was having an affair with a young man from the neighbourhood.

The family had subsequently tried to arrange marriages for Aksha, which she refused. They told police they killed her because they feared that she would bring dishonour to the family by running away from home.

She was killed on Saturday at 6 am while she was sleeping inside the house.

Her mother and the other brother then cleaned up the blood in the house to cover up the crime.

A forensic investigation revealed the traces of blood. A 315-bore pistol was also recovered from their home.

Kashifa, the mother, had continued to conceal the truth by saying that she was in the bathroom and that she did not know what happened to Aksha.
