Another shocking case of minor rape has been reported in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar, where a teenage girl en route to a temple on the night of Janmashtami was abducted and assaulted.

It is alleged that the 14-year-old girl had left her home to visit a temple on the night of Friday, September 4, when three youths approached her. She was then forcefully taken to the house of one of the accused in the same village, where she was allegedly raped.

According to the available information, the main accused was identified as Sameer, a resident of the Chhapar police station area. It was not immediately known if he knew the girl before and had planned the crime well in advance. The two associates who helped him abduct the girl were identified by Hindi news reports as Waleen and Salman.

Since the girl didn't return home on time, a search was launched during which she was found at Sameer's house in a distressed condition. She subsequently narrated the episode—from her abduction by the trio to the sexual assault by Sameer—to her family members.

The girl's family then took her to the police station and submitted a written complaint, demanding action. By that time, all three accused had fled the spot. However, Sameer was soon arrested by the police. The Muzaffarnagar Police have reportedly registered a case against the accused youths under serious charges.

Later, the girl's family was visited by Uttar Pradesh minister Kapil Dev Agarwal. He assured them that strict action will be taken against the responsible individuals and none will be spared.
