As the investigation continues into the death of Pune-based realtor Ketan Agarwal, a Rajya Sabha MP has introduced a bill in Parliament seeking the establishment of a National Commission for Men.

Ashok Kumar Mittal, a former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) member, said the case highlights that men can also be victims of crime and that they, too, deserve institutional support and legal protection.

“The Ketan Agarwal case is deeply disturbing. Ketan and his family deserve a fair, thorough, and impartial investigation, and above all, justice,” Mittal wrote on X.

The MP said he introduced the National Commission for Men Bill in Parliament to ensure that every victim receives justice, support, and equal protection under the law.

“The case is a reminder that men, too, can be victims. They deserve institutional support, legal protection, and a platform where their voices are heard. Justice must be equal for everyone, irrespective of gender,” he added.

Ketan died on June 18 after falling into a gorge at Lohagad Fort in Pune district. While the incident was initially treated as an accident, police later alleged that he was pushed to his death by his fiancee, Siya Goyal, and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary.

According to police, Siya allegedly confessed that she did not want to marry Ketan and conspired with Chetan to kill him, reportedly fearing social stigma if she called off the wedding.

Investigators also claimed the accused had visited the fort earlier to identify a suitable location and even conducted a rehearsal of the crime.
