In a fresh twist to the Ketan Agarwal murder case, the main accused, Siya Goyal ‘s parents, say that their daughter could have never plotted to kill her fiancé and that they didn't know of Ketan’s wig and stutter until the engagement.
The statement contradicts the claims made by Ketan Agarwal’s family, News18 reported.
In a detailed account to the police, Siya’s parents reportedly told investigators that their daughter could not have planned a murder under any circumstances.
He said that trekking was Ketan’s passion and not Siya’s, saying that she had little personal stake in the activity that led to his death.
The Goyals described Ketran as “a diamond of a boy" from a good household, and said they had never heard of Chetan Chaudhary, Siya’s alleged accomplice, until his name came up in the news reports. They also said that Siya never went to parties and that she never drank alcohol.
In another revelation, Siya’s parents reportedly told police that they found out Ketan wore a wig and had a stutter only the day after the engagement ceremony.
This directly contradicts Ketan’s family’s claim that they revealed it way before the ceremony.
The Goyals said that they told the matter to Siya, who then looked up Ketan’s profile online and watched his public speeches before agreeing to the wedding,
Police also found that four days before he was allegedly pushed off a cliff at Lohagad fort in Pune, Ketan had spoken to his family about Siya’s ‘friend’ Chetan.
He reportedly told his father that her phone was constantly busy and that he suspected she was having an affair, the indian express reported.
Police also said Ketan had raised similar concerns with his family on multiple occasions before his death.
Siya, 20 and her alleged lover, Chetan Choudhary, 22, were arrested on June 23 after Pune Rural police suspected that they planned a conspiracy to murder Ketan, 26, after he died.
Siya, who was allegedly in a relationship with Chetan, did not want to get married, police said.
