Bengaluru techie M. Shwetha has confessed to investigators that she and her live-in partner, Kenneth, fatally stabbed her parents and sister due to a long-standing resentment over parental control and opposition to her relationship, compounded by significant debt. Shwetha reportedly felt her mother, Muttulakshmi, had controlled her life restrictively, leading to intense frustration and hatred. The parents, Somasundar and Muttulakshmi, along with sister Supriya, went to the couple's apartment in Seegehalli to confront them about mounting loans of approximately ₹30 lakh taken out in Shwetha's name. A heated argument ensued, leading to the alleged stabbing. While Somasundar survived the initial attack and alerted neighbours, Muttulakshmi and Supriya were declared dead at the hospital. Shwetha and Kenneth escaped through the balcony, fled the city, and eventually separated in Tiruvannamalai, with Shwetha being apprehended in Puducherry and efforts ongoing to locate Kenneth.

M. Shwetha, a Bengaluru techie, who is accused of fatally stabbing her parents and sister, revealed to the investigators that her parents controlled her life for years and they were opposed to her live-in relationship.

Shwetha told police that her parents, especially her mother, had been controlling her personal life since childhood and she was frustrated by this. "My mother never gave us the freedom that we deserved. Right from high school days to end of engineering degree, I lived the life of a prisoner. My friends and classmates would tease me or feel bad on seeing my condition. Besides having parents and sister, I lived like an orphan. This attitude of my mother made me to develop hatred against her," she informed police, according to TOI.

Investigation revealed that Shwetha and and her live-in partner Kenneth were struggling with heavy debt after availing multiple loans amounting to nearly ₹30 lakh from various banks. The parents came to know about this after they received bank notices under Shwetha's name at their Ramamurthynagar home.

Police said Shwetha's parents Somasundar, Muttulakshmi and her sister Supriya went to the flat in Seegehalli, K.R. Puram, where the couple was staying to confront them regarding the issue. They broke into a heated argument over the loan and over Shwetha's relationship with Kenneth. Following this, the couple allegedly stabbed Shwetha's parents and sister.

Both Muttulakshmi and Supriya collapsed inside the apartment while Somasundar managed to escape from the flat. However, he fell on the stairs after getting severely injured in the attack. Shwetha and Kenneth locked the door from inside and escaped through the balcony, leaving Muttulakshmi and Supriya in the apartment.

Neigbours and security guard Veer Bahadur rushed in to help Somasundar who was lying in a pool of blood. On the way to hospital, Somasundar told Bahadur that his wife and daughter were inside the apartment.

Police too arrived at the spot by the time Bahadur came back. They broke the door and rushed the mother and daughter to hospital, where they were declared dead.

Meanwhile, the couple hailed an auto rickshaw immediately after escaping through the balcony. They went to Kenneth's PG accommodation near Vibhutipura in HAL to take his sport bike. They roamed around HAL and Marathahalli areas for a while and later rode to Sarjapura, where they had tea.

From there, they crossed the state border to Tamil Nadu's Hosur and reached Tiruvannamalai by noon. Here, the couple decided to go separate ways. Shwetha got on a Puducherry bus while Kenneth's whereabouts were still unknown. Police have detained Shwetha from a hotel room in Puducherry while efforts are on to nab her partner.
