One of the important clues that led police to Siya Goyal's lover Chetan Chaudhary in the murder of her fiance Ketan Agarwal was his attire. The young man covered his head with a hoodie in the scorching heat while pursuing the couple's vehicle.
What was initially believed to be an accidental fall, going by Siya Goyal's statement, turned out to be a murder, with police claiming that she along with Chetan pushed Ketan from the edge of Lohagad Fort into the 400-metre-deep gorge below.
Siya's suspicious behaviour and contradictory statements were noticed by Ketan's relatives. Later, it was found out that she had tried to bring Ketan to Lohagad Fort on May 31 and eventually made his accompany her on June 14 to the historical landmark. That day, she tried to push him down the gorge, but he escaped after a tree stopped him from falling. She told him that she pushed him because a snake was there and was trying to save him from getting bitten.
With the first attempt failing, she lured Ketan back to Lohagad Fort again on June 18. Though Ketan did not want to come, she called up his mother to convince him to accompany her, saying she wanted to celebrate her birthday on June 19 midnight at the location.
This time, Siya's lover Chetan followed the couple to the fort, as seen in the CCTV footage accessed by police, reports News18. He was also spotted near the site where Ketan fell into the valley.
Both Siya and Chetan have been arrested and a murder case was registered against them.
The families of Ketan, who is the son of prominent Maharashtra construction businessman Vishal Agarwal, and Siya had planned an elaborate wedding for the couple in November. They booked a palace in Jaipur for ₹17 crore and arranged two private planes to transport the guests.
However, Siya was allegedly in relationship with Chetan for around a year after they met at their workplace. Eventually, they plotted to get rid of Ketan in order to live together.
