Maharashtra will receive relief from heatwaves for the next few weeks as monsoon rains finally set in
Maharashtra is preparing for an active monsoon period over the next several days, with the Meteorological Department predicting showers across the state for the coming week, offering relief from a preceding heatwave. While neighboring regions had already experienced rain, Maharashtra's conditions are now favorable for monsoon activity, leading to the issuance of various alerts, including yellow alerts for potential heatwaves and thunderstorms in many districts and an orange alert for Vidarbha. Specific districts like Akola, Washim, and Amravati were warned of heatwaves, while others such as Wardha and Nagpur were forecast to experience hot weather coupled with thunderstorms. Mumbai and Thane also received yellow alerts, and approximately 1.78 mm of rain was recorded in Mumbai within an hour on Sunday morning. The monsoon is expected to accelerate its progress from June 25 to July 2, potentially leading to increased rainfall intensity, and temperatures are predicted to decrease in the next two days with cloudy skies anticipated, particularly in Pune, which is expected to see light to moderate rain and thunderstorms from Tuesday.
