Trinamool Congress leader Jahangir Khan was paraded around through the streets of Falta in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas barefoot with a rope tied around his waist for the third time since his arrest this month. Khan, who is also called “Pushpa of Falta”, was arrested on June 8.
A video of Khan is now circulating on social media.
In the clip, Khan is seen walking through the street barefoot, surrounded by police wearing a black t-shirt and shorts.
He is seen walking through the streets barefoot with folded hands. The Diamond Harbour leader is seen making apologetic gestures to the camera. In some clips, he is seen holding his ears while speaking to the people gathered on the route.
He also has a rope around his waist.
Khan was arrested on charges of ‘extortion’ on June 8 and was remanded to police custody for five days by the Bengal court.
Police sources said that Khan was taken to various locations as part of scene reconstruction exercises linked to several complaints lodged against him.
A similar reconstruction was previously conducted on June 11. Khan was paraded around wearing a white T-shirt and shorts as he was escorted through various parts of Falta.
In a recent development, sources from the Diamond Harbour police told the Indian Express that a fresh investigation has been initiated into the alleged attack on BJP national president J P Nadda’s convoy in December 2020.
Khan was named among the accused in the FIR.
In May, Howrah police had paraded former TMC leader Shamim Ahmed after he was accused in post-poll violence along with a dismissed Home guard and a local alleged gangster. The three of them were tied with ropes and dressed only in undershirts and boxers.
