During interrogation, Samarth Singh told police that his wife, Twisha Sharma, showed behavioral changes after her pregnancy was confirmed on April 17. Singh claimed that while marital tensions had already existed between them for the past five months, the confirmation of the pregnancy led to escalating fights and arguments.

He recalled that they fought over taking a trip to Rajasthan's Ajmer, hours before she was found hanging at their Bhopal residence on May 12.

The digital evidence collected by the police from Twisha Sharma's phone revealed that she was unhappy at her in-laws' home. She repeatedly asked her parents to take her away from there. "I feel suffocated, mother," read one of the messages she had sent.

Sharma's brother, Major Harshit Sharma, an officer with the Indian Army, said that she had called her mother at 10.05 pm on the night of her death. He said that she had abruptly disconnected the call after her husband entered the room.

"Repeated attempts were thereafter made to contact her by our family, but no one responded," he added.

Samarth Singh, who is currently in police custody, was interrogated by the police for two hours on Saturday. He had surrendered in Jabalpur court on Friday night and was produced before the Bhopal court on Saturday.

The Bar Council of India has suspended Samarth Singh's license, adding that the allegations against him affect the dignity and public image of the legal profession.

Meanwhile, the second autopsy report of Twisha Sharma's body is awaited on Sunday. Following the directions from the Madhya Pradesh High Court, a medical team comprising four senior doctors from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, will conduct the re-post-mortem of the body.

Twisha Sharma, a 33-year-old Noida native, was found hanging at her marital home in Bhopal's Katara Hills area on May 12. She got married to Samarth Singh in December 2025. Following her death, her family alleged that she had been subjected to mental torture and dowry harassment by her husband and his family members.
