Exit polls for the Kerala Assembly Election 2026 are predicting a power transfer in the state, with the United Democratic Front (UDF) projected to take over the administration from the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF).
The predictions have set the stage for an intense counting day across the state for the 140-member House. According to CNN-News18, UDF is expected to win 70-80 seats, LDF with 58-68 seats and BJP/NDA with 0-4 seats.
Political observers noted that Kerala’s unique voting pattern—traditionally alternating between the LDF and UDF—makes this election particularly significant. As per the majority of the exit polls, a third consecutive term for the LDF is unlikely, and it is predicted that the UDF will claim power in the state.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is projected to register a marginal increase in vote share, though it may still struggle to convert this into a substantial number of seats.
Notably, exit polls in the last three elections were generally directionally accurate in predicting the winner, though most failed to accurately estimate the scale of the victory.
With the counting day approaching, security has been tightened at counting centers, and election authorities have assured strict adherence to protocols to ensure a transparent process.
