The shocking death of the 22-year-old IIT graduate and UPSC aspirant has sent shockwaves through the national capital, as a promising future was extinguished in a senseless act of violence.
The autopsy of the IRS officer's daughter confirms the violent nature of her death. Findings indicate she suffered blunt force trauma to the face, which led to a broken nasal bone and other significant injuries.
Doctors found haemorrhaging in the neck muscles and fractures to the thyroid cartilage, indicating that the victim's death was caused by asphyxiation due to strangulation.
How Rahul Meena planned the murder
The woman was raped and murdered by the family's former domestic help, Rahul Meena, on Wednesday morning. He gained access to the house using a spare key. The 23-year-old accused is a native of Rajasthan's Alwar.
Meena knew the timings and routine of the family and had plotted the act accordingly. He had entered the house when the parents were out for their daily gym.
He had entered her study room upstairs and demanded the money locked in the safe downstairs. When she refused to give him money, he held her by the throat and used a charger wire to strangle her, and then attacked her with a water bottle and a lamp on her head.
Meena then allegedly raped her while she was unconscious. Afterwards, she was dragged down the flight of stairs in an attempt to access the fingerprint-protected locker inside the house.
He fled the scene with approximately ₹2 lakh in cash and ₹10 lakh worth of jewellery stuffed in his backpack. He changed out of his bloodstained clothes and shoes before leaving at 7:15 am.
An autopsy at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences found the victim died of strangulation after a violent assault.
