The Janata Dal United (JDU) released its list of national officer bearers on Wednesday. The party named 24 leaders across key roles, including vice-presidents, general secretaries, treasurer and spokesperson. While there were no major changes in the party leadership, Nishant Kumar, Nitish Kumar's son, who was expected to become more active in party activity, was notably left out of the list.
Sanjay Kumar Jha has retained his role as national working president.
Some of the new appointments were MP Chandeshwar Prasad Chandravanshi, who has been named national vice-president. Alok Kumar Suman, a member of parliament from Gopalganj, has been appointed treasurer.

Meanwhile, Nishant Kumar has announced that he will be embarking on a tour of Bihar starting on May 3 from West Champaran. The region is also where Nitish Kumar had launched many of his major tours, and the place where Mahatma Gandhi launched his first Satyagraha.
While he has been left out of a major position in the party, Nishant is continuing to focus on grassroots efforts for the party. Many also see the tour as a strategy to prepare him before he assumes actual roles in the party.
The yatra is aimed at boosting the morale of the party ranks after his father stepped down as the CM earlier this month.
He joined the party on March 8 shortly after the former CM made his announcement and filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha.
The Yatra’s itinerary is being prepared in discussions with the party national working president, Sanjay Kumar Jha and other party workers.
Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar has clarified that the party would continue as is, even with the BJP in power, and him being a Rajya Sabha MP.
