A 22-year-old woman, who was identified as the daughter of a Delhi IRS officer, was found strangled to death at her residence in Kailash Hills in South Delhi’s Amar Colony, police said. Police suspect that a former house help is involved in the case.
Police believe that she was likely strangled to death with a mobile phone charging cable, which was found at the scene. The Police control Room received the call reporting the body at around 9 am after the family found it under suspicious circumstances.
The murder is suspected to have occurred when the victim's parents went out for a walk.
The house help is believed to have entered the residence and strangled the woman.
Police found out that the man was recently removed from his job.
The woman's body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
A police officer who spoke to Hindustan Times also said that sexual assault cannot be ruled out in the case.
Authorities are waiting for the autopsy report to determine the exact sequence of events.
A police team has been dispatched to trace and apprehend the suspect, and officers are examining CCTV footage from the Colony.
“The role of a former servant is being examined. Teams have been formed to trace him,” a senior officer said.
