Ashok Kharat sexually abusing pregnant woman triggered whistleblower to set up hidden camera: Report

The whistleblower in the Ashok Kharat rape, human sacrifice, and black magic cases decided to set up a hidden camera at the self-styled godman's office after coming to know about his unspeakable atrocities, including the sexual assault of a pregnant woman, a report said.

The pregnant woman was an acquaintance of the whistleblower.The woman resisted his advancements and left the dark room. Later, she narrated the ordeal to the employee, who initially did not believe her, but soon began closely monitoring Kharat’s activities. When his doubts strengthened, the person decided to act and thus set up the camera to capture Kharat's vile doings. Consequently, multiple incidents of sexual exploitation involving several victims were captured on camera, and the footage was then handed over to the police, a Marathi media report said.

The whistleblower used to work for Kharat, and his hidden camera operation captured around 100 videos. According to the individual, the victims were first fed a substance that reportedly made them disoriented. It was then that Kharat took advantage of them sexually, Loksatta said in a report.

According to his former employee, Kharat would tell women that he possessed divine powers and that denying him pleasure would lead to dire consequences, including harm to their husbands.

Noose tightens for Ashok Kharat

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing rape, human sacrifice, and black magic charges against the arrested Merchant Navy officer-turned-self-styled astrologer and godman, Ashok Kharat, on Sunday questioned the priest of the Ishaneshwar Mahadev Temple, with which the accused is linked, and a watchman in Nashik, officials said.

A day earlier, a staffer at Kharat's office was questioned for more than seven hours by the SIT, led by Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Tejaswini Satpute, they added.

Kharat was arrested on 18 March for rape and other offences following the complaint of a 35-year-old woman. She alleged that Kharat raped her several times over a period of three years.

Since then, the probe has revealed the alleged power Kharat wielded among a set of political leaders, as well as transactions linked to land in Sinnar and some other areas in the Nashik district.
