A Bengaluru family’s pursuit of viral stardom triggered a police investigation after they attempted to ship an elderly relative as a courier parcel. The stunt, designed to generate 'unique' social media content, backfired when the parcel office staff members detected a suspiciously heavy sack containing a person.
Five members of a family were involved in the incident. A woman, her husband, mother-in-law, and brother-in-law arrived at a courier facility within the Vyalikaval police station limits on Tuesday, transporting a suspiciously heavy package.
When asked what's inside the package, the family refused to answer. After repeated attempts, the staff members were forced to open the package only to find the woman's father inside, leaving them shocked.
Reportedly, the elderly person stuffed in the sack struggled to breathe and was in distress.

The family said that they planned the act so they could film a reel to highlight the scarcity of bus tickets during the festive season around Ugadi and Ramzan. Due to the shortage of tickets, "couriering a person" was the only option, the family said.
The family, despite being caught, reportedly insisted that the 'parcel' be accepted since they 'made the effort' coming all the way to the office. It seems they argued with the parcel staff.
The police were alerted by the parcel staff members, and the family was taken to the police station, where an apology video was recorded, and a stern warning was given to the group.
