A horrifying video from the Koradi area of the Nagpur district in Maharashtra went viral on the internet, in which a woman was seen pouring hot water on her grandson for playing Holi with her. An entire bucket of hot water was poured on the child, who helplessly screamed and ran for help in shock, the viral video showed.

The incident was captured on a CCTV camera set up in Ward No. 2 of Nagpur’s Aramshin area. It captured the boy approaching the woman from behind and releasing his pichkari (water gun), targeting her lower torso. An older boy was also with him, but the angry woman threw the hot water on the child before anybody could do anything. Evident evaporation on the ground around the kid immediately after the incident confirmed that the water was hot and not lukewarm.

The woman was brought back to her senses by the loud screaming of her grandson. A younger woman who was on the scene was the first to react, as she quickly poured cold water on the boy from the bucket she was carrying. The grandmother soon joined her and emptied a regular water container on him before he was dragged away by another woman.

According to reports, the child suffered 45% burns as a result of the incident and is undergoing treatment at a hospital. He suffered severe burns below the waist, Hindustan Times said in a report. Maharashtra Police have initiated the process to register an offence against the woman, the report added.
