A Samajwadi Party leader died after a 1000-kilogram high mast lighting pole fell on his moving car in the Antu area of Pratapnagar.

Lal Bhadur Yadav, 48, was killed on the spot at around 1 pm near the Babuganj market, where a high mast pole lost balance and fell as workers were installing it.

He worked as a Public Works Department contractor and also held a country liquor licence. At the time of the incident, he was driving his Hyundai Creta towards the city.
