A former police officer and motivational speaker, Philip Mampad, has been arrested after he was accused of raping a minor girl at a lodge.
The influencer was taken into custody late at night on Thursday by Nilambur police.
Mampad is known for sharing motivational videos on social media.
The complaint against Mampad stated that he took a 16-year-old girl who had mental disabilities from Chevayur in Kasaragod district and raped her at a lodge in September 2022. The girl was brought to him for counselling.
The legal proceedings were initiated after the complaint was registered with the Child Line by the victim's father.
Police said that investigators are collecting more evidence related to the incident and examining other aspects of the case.
