A class 12 student who was returning from his farewell party allegedly lost control of his speeding car in Lucknow, killing a 6-year-old boy and four others.
The vehicle also hit a parked bike before running over several people.
The student Gaurav Singh, who is 21 years old, fled the scene after a tire on his car burst.

Police arrested Singh hours later after obtaining CCTV footage.
The accident occurred at around 8:30 pm, and Singh was headed towards Kanpur.
Dikshant, the 6 year old boy, succumbed to critical injuries at Sarojini Nagar Community Health Centre.
The five included two women, two children and an e-rickshaw driver, sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment.
Eyewitnesses say that when locals tried to stop the car after it hit amotorcycle, the driver accelerated in an attempt to flee, hitting multiple people over a stretch of nearly 100 metres before colliding into a parked auto and escaping.
Police also detained a teenage girl who was reportedly inside the car during the incident.
She identified Gaurva as the driver during questioning. The vehicle has also been seized, according to Banthra SHO Rana Rajesh Singh.
Rajnish Verma, Lucknow ACP, said the families of the injured were informed, and the police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area.
