The BJP-led Mahayuti is sweeping the civic polls across the length and breadth of Maharashtra in what is seen as a huge blow to the Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (Sharad Pawar).
The civic polls in Nashik was held across 1,563 polling booths on January 15. The voting turnout was recorded at 56.76 per cent, a 5 per cent decline from the 61.6 per cent polling in 2017. Out of the 735 candidates, 208 were independents.
Early trends give an upper hand for the Mahayuti as the BJP and its allies lead in most seats. Out of the 122 wards in Nashik, BJP was leading in 70 seats, when this report was published. Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena was ahead in 38 seats while its rival Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) had a clear edge in 13 wards. Ajit Pawar's NCP was ahead in three seats.
Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena was leading in two seats while the Congress was ahead in four.
Among the winners from the BJP included Suresh Patil from Ward 7A, Himgauri Aher Adke from 7B, Swati Bhamre from 7C, Bharti Dhivare from 9A, Dinkar Patil from 9B, Sangeeta Ghotekar from 9C, Amol Patil from 9D, Vishwas Nagare from 10A, Seema Tajne from 20B, Jayashree Ajit Gaikwad from 20C, Sudhakar Badgujar from 25A and Sadhana Matale from 25B.
Winner among Shiv Sena candidates inlcudded Ajay Boraste from Ward 7D, Vilas Shinde from 8D, Rahul Dive from 16A, Asha Tadvi from 16B, Pooja Navle from 16C, Jyoti Jondhale from 16D, Pradeep Bagul from 20A, Kailas Suresh Mudaliar from 20D and Kavita Naik from 25C.
Muralidhar Bhamre from Shiv Sena (UBT) has also reportedly won from Ward 25D.
