Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Kerala on Saturday night to attend various programmes of the Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of the assembly elections scheduled for April-May.
Shah, who is set to meet various party leaders in Thiruvananthapuram, is expected to officially launch the party’s campaign for the high-stakes polls.
According to the itinerary shared by his office, Shah would begin his visit with ‘darshan and pooja’ at the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in the morning.

Following that, he will meet the newly elected local body representatives in Kerala. In the afternoon, he will attend the "New India, New Kerala" conclave and later hold a meeting with NDA leaders at the BJP state office in the evening.
"Privileged to join our karyakartas in welcoming Amit Shah ji to Thiruvananthapuram. Six months ago, in July 2025, Amit Shah ji launched BJP/NDA's Mission 2025, and Kerala witnessed a political turning point in the local body elections. Today, he is here to launch Mission 2026 and guide our karyakartas as we prepare for one of the most consequential Assembly elections in Kerala's history,” BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar said in a post.
“This election will decide the future of our state and the opportunities available to generations of Malayalees,” he added.
The BJP, which recently wrested power in the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation during the local body polls, hopes to replicate this success in the upcoming assembly elections.
The BJP has already announced that Chandrasekhar will contest in Nemom, the lone constituency the party won in the 2016 elections but later lost to CPI(M)’s V. Sivankutty in the 2021 elections.
