The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) arrested 34 persons in a recent statewide crackdown on child sexual abuse material. Those arrested include 24 repeat offenders and 10 mule account holders involved in producing, storing, uploading, circulating and viewing child pornography.
A total of 18 TGCSB teams carried out the operation after acting on complaints related to child sexual exploitative and abusive material (CSEAM). During the investigation, the teams also rescued a four-year-old girl after discovering that some of the videos were locally produced.
Among those arrested is a government employee working as a junior assistant in the irrigation department in Nizamabad. He is a repeat offender and has been booked in three cases. Police registered 24 FIRs under the Information Technology Act and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at cybercrime police stations across the State.
The accused are aged between 18 and 48 years. Most of the videos featured girls in the 4- to 14-year-old age group. In the case of the girl who was rescued, the parents were unaware that a 24-year-old security guard was sexually abusing the child.
The financial trail linked to the cases is substantial. TGCSB teams detected transactions worth ₹26 crore connected to 37 cases across India, including 14 from Telangana.
The TGCSB established a Child Protection Unit (CPU) in February 2025 to proactively process online CSEAM complaints. The number of cyber tipline reports handled rose from 28,583 in 2024 to more than 1.20 lakh in 2025. FIR registrations increased sharply from 26 to 866 during the same period, while arrests rose from 31 to 421. The CPU also strengthened coordination with other States and forwarded over 6,000 tipline reports last year.
